No negative effects on the immune system were reported by researchers who examined the 62-year-old man hypervaccinated against Covid-19.

217 times, This is the number of vaccines against Covid-19 declared by a 62-year-old German, who would have received them in the space of 29 months. There is official confirmation for 134 of these vaccinations. The goal of the man from the town of Magdeburg was to sell proof of vaccination cards to unvaccinated people, even if it meant going beyond national medical advice.

An individual case of hypervaccination

This case of hypervaccination is a rare opportunity to study the reaction of the immune system to continuous presentation of SARS-CoV-2 antigens. German researchers report their findings in Lancet Infectious Diseases. According to them, the immune system of the hypervaccinated patient is fully functional. Blood tests revealed that the individual had large numbers of effector memory T cells (which promote the immune response to the virus), more than people who had only received three vaccines. On the other hand, it appears that other immune cells were present in similar quantities in these people and in the hypervaccinated man. “Overall, we did not find any indication of a weaker immune response, quite the contrary,” said Katharina Kocher, co-author of the study.

However, this is an individual case and there is no indication that the number of vaccines should be increased. “Current research indicates that a three-dose vaccination, combined with regular complementary vaccines for vulnerable groups, remains the preferred approach,” added immunologist Kilian Schober.
